Books I’ve read for the past week or so

Okay, onwards with the list, the books I’ve read so far for the past week or so:

  • Smoke and Ashes by Tanya Huff
  • Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs
  • Demon Chick by Marilyn Kaye
  • The Spy Wore Silk by Andrea Pickens

I actually have a comment on these books so I’ll put them after the cut! You want to know their exact summaries, go check Amazon or some other shop website since they have blurbs.

Smoke and Ashes

Tanya Huff, you can never go wrong with her if you like urban fantasy. Well, it’s urban fantasy for this series, I just picked up the third book (I think) from this one. Pretty fun, got to find the rest of the series to read the begining.

Cry Wolf

Huh. This is the start of a new “character” series from that world with werewolves and stuff. It’s pretty ok to read in a sense that I have a bias against typical angsty backstories. Besides that, the current now of said character is good! So yes, I like this. Fun fact: The comic book is gonna be out in a month or so too.

Demon Chick

Unngh?? It’s a bit… Odd in a sense that it’s kinda flat. It’s not bad but it’s not WOAH good either. Pleasant story with an odd message but it’s just okay. That’s it. It doesn’t inspire fanfic or anything like that. I wonder if there’d be a second book to this world or not because it’s just… okay. With a closed ending so no stupid cliffhangers like that but it’s just so placid.

The Spy Wore Silk

This is a romance trash book. It’s pretty fun an exciting as always but the ending makes me go “Ehhh?”. Yes, the leads get together in the end but considering this is a spy book, I didn’t think they’d get married so fast! Usual romance books yes but some I’ve read they had a slightly delayed wedding where the epilogue is at least months and months after the ending. Just found it weird since the epilogue could have them going on missions with the narrative going on in medias res or something. THIS IS A SERIES, I’m very much going to borrow the next book for it since it features the lead heroine’s friend who’s very spunky.

That’s it for now! We’ll see what other books I get through.

  1. Just one single thought though. Maybe you have made creating this blog as your occupation or do you do this in your spare time? Simply curious..
