If you want to not be addicted or jump in before they launch a major story line, this issue is the one to jump on. Out of the stack for this week’s shipment, this comic got the most reaction shot out of me.

• X-men Legacy #234

Let’s get on with the fangirling! For one thing, everyone should know I’m a total Rogue fan so this issue is very fun

How do I start this!? This issue is totally for Rogue fans and in a way it was not so serious drama drama like how the X-men can get because it’s a brief interlude after their fights with… ok a whole bunch of people and this is their “quiet” resting time for now. However, the cuckoos need Rogue’s help to take away their powers for just a bit so they can search for the Phoenix Force that disappeared and hid somewhere.

Brief summary, Rogue accepted a position where she could help the new students at this new “mansion” of sorts. I won’t call this a mansion since it feels much more but anyway, it’s their academy of sorts. So anywho, Rogue got to have psychic powers for this issue for a bit while the cuckoos work their thing. They’re the bitchy blonde ladies if you can’t tell.

So Rogue goes on her way after that until she’s called back later or whatever. Meanwhile, she hears something in French and we should know who that is. Remyyyyyyyy. Somehow she hears something else hidden in his mind in which he says “What, again?” since yeah, it’s not new to them. However, she’s not forcing him but just asking him to get someone to look at him since hey, it’s Remy and Rogue knows how stubborn he can be and it is not the first time anyway.

And then they get into the whole Rogue avoiding Remy thing because she needs to learn to control her powers once more after the Prof fixed her again.

As you can see, she doesn’t want to avoid Remy but she so totally associates him with the lack of control and goes on a total fantasy spree in her mind… BUT WOAH, wait a minute! She’s still got psychic powers from the cuckoos so WHOOPS? She just broadcasted the whole thing to everyone?!

I don’t know if this page wins over the Buffy issue where Buffy dreaming of Spike and Angel with the whole nurse get up and random cupids and all. This page is certainly a contender for one of the most embarrasing thoughts to be broadcasted though!

You had to see her reaction when Remy told her to stop, it was so freaking cute.

Anywho, off she goes to find Magneto since she needed to talk to him about him messing with Surge’s powers. Which he was anyway. And oh does Magneto always have to do the floaty crotch thrust thing or is it just to show off to Rogue huh? Probably he just likes to do it anyway. La la la, DARN YOU PSYCHIC POWERS! Rogue gets to feel how Magneto feels about her and it’s doing a looping feedback thing so she likes him when it’s actually him liking her and you know, loop.

Free kisses to Mags I guess. She got pissy about it nonetheless once she realized what happened and turned off the emphatic part and huffed away. This is soooo totally for the Rogue/Magneto fans. The one before that was so for Rogue/Remy which I totally approve!

Really, she’s like a guidance counselor.

Maybe if it were Jean or whoever, they might be too prissy and be all “Oh noes, I’m invading someone’s thoughts! I must angst now for I am invading their privacy!” but no, not Rogue. She’s just going all along fine since it’s not as if she can help it.

Not much of a difference from all the voices in her head long ago anywho. So taking advantage of her brief powers, she goes on and advises some students that seem to be having trouble and… Woah there, I think there might be a future appearance of some stalker in the future.

For a girl who couldn’t be touched, she certainly touched a lot of people’s hearts.

DUH, DUH, DUUUUUUUUH.

We don’t know who the mystery thought voice is so perhaps in future issues. For now, Rogue returns back to the cuckoos who failed in finding the Phoenix Force and they take their powers back and hurray, all is back to normal.

Kyaaaaaa~~ Blatant Rogue-ism for this issue! I like it!

Hellooo, it’s been a while since I did this. Nonetheless! I figured I’d just focus on the comics that I’d go gah over more out of the lot in every shipment. Less picture editing then. Major spoilers for BtVS because I am all grah over the plotline.

• Girl Comics No. 1 (1 of 3)
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer #33

Let’s start with Girl Comics No. 1! For those reading just the title, no it doesn’t mean that the comic features girl characters although they are inside the book. It means that these limited 3 issue series is done entirely by girls! Writers, pencillers, inkers etc. Actually, I’m not sure about the inker and colourist if they’re girls (whoops, if you are? Cause I can’t tell if it’s a gender neutral name). But anyway, the ladies of comics creation!

The intro to this anthology of stories by the ladies is pretty inspiring. Cause you know, it makes you feel that these girl heroines in stories do it because… Well, their speech sums it up! Try to name all of them if you can!

Anywho, lots of different art styles in this first issue. I quite like it since the storylines aren’t so typical and some characters make you go “OHHH” once you realize who they are. There’s about six different stories in here and in the first one (excluding the intro with the speech), Nightcrawler looks like Desire from Sandman, only you know, blue.

There’s also pages with info about some ladies of Marvel who worked there and they certainly created history! Overall, I liked this! I’d be getting the next two issues (hopefully, unless it sells out).

Firstly in Buffy the Vampire Slayer #33, Xander got to cheer up Buffy. No biggie, Buffy is Buffy. She’s got the whole “ARRGH, IT’S MY FAULT” thing going on and she’s currently getting all the powers from dead slayers and so yeah. Still, she’s being dramatic. It’s okay, Willow knows this too and got Xander to do the whole speech thing to B so up we go! B is happy, hurray or at least wanting revenge to stop all this Twilight nonsense and getting Giles, Faith and Andrew back.

Meanwhile, everyone from CSN and every other comic news website knows who the heck Twilight is.

THIS, this actually made me go, “What?” because he’s beating up Faith. Giles recognizes the voice but FAITH, she should have known too. If you follow the TV series or read fanfics or the wiki, Faith did save Angel (ha ha, spoiled you if you haven’t been spoiled yet) and GOT INTO HIS HEAD. This is so freaking weird for her not to know so.

And then Andrew helped to stop Angel smacking Faith by hitting him with a frisbee. This is pretty cool and Andrew-like. He may not have powers but he certainly would help his friends out. For Buffy/Faith fanficcers, there’s a point where B says that she can feel Faith hurting too, so haaaaaaa and off she goes to rescue them when waiting for Willow and Amy to finish a spell to find them.

Randomly, I did wonder how the heck did Andrew get all the gear and where from if he sneaked away?

Okay, the Buffy/Twilight fight. It’s… Oh man, ANGEL ACTUALLY READS TWILIGHT? He must have or he was being ironic! I would peg him as being ironic since I doubt he’d read it. Or so I hope.

Besides Xander, Willow actually has the best original lines in this issue.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH. This is so annoying. It’s all true lurve soul joining crap or something. It’s just so… AUGH.

Really.

Willow has the best lines in this issue. Also next issue is called “Them F#@%ing plus the true history of the universe”. There’s got to be explaining to do! For one thing, Buffy + any romancy love person = KABLOOEY. Now Angel is… GAAAAAAAAAAH. Well, there has to be a good reason or else I hope that Faith is gonna smack his face if Buffy doesn’t any more. I half expected that THIS Angel was a hoax but we don’t really know… ARGH, we’ll see.

Righto, for this week’s shipment, we have:

Onwards we go!

So last we saw Cindy in was that some guy was sneaking up behind her with a dagger. Surprise! It is actually Aladdin. Anyway, in Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love #2, apparently Aladdin also is trying to find out who’s doing the whole illegal magical item business. Thus, they decided to join forces since they were working on the same goal anyway.

In the meantime, while Cindy and Aladdin share intel and prepare to gather info and find the things, Cordwainer shows new designs to the shoe elves to make. The elves think it’s a bad idea and I am inclined to think so too. Whatever it is, magical shoes even for Fabletown folk don’t seem to be a good combination anyway.

Back to Cindy and Aladdin! Off they go to some soirée of sorts where dodgy business types are to be had with the mafia and all the such where supposedly a deal for magical items. Cindy is not impressed with Aladdin by the way, since he clearly is the suave handsome type which she totally doesn’t like.

Anyway once they arrive, the “boss” for the party is a lady in a red burqah and tells the guards to get rid of them! Apparently the guards are big ghols and the two super spies are getting in quite a fix since they can’t fight them while the drop from the roof of the building is really high. It just hit me, what if the boss was one of the sisters who went to the shoe shop in issue 1? It could be possible! Durrr, duurr, duuur. FORESHADOWING?

Okay, X-babies #3 actually gave an exciting turn instead of going down. This is good because things just got fun now! And no, there’s no zombies either but anyway the X-babies finally got themselves out of that world and into the “real” mojoworld! Also, Rogue totally is in it with Wolvie whenever it’s for fights since they’re both hardcore (for babies).

Okay, so Wolvie and Nightcrawler were on the rescue team. Apparently other characters were also stuck in their own VR world like the X-babies. They found the real Wally, Terry, Roy and Top Dog! With Top Dog’s intelligence, they disabled all the VR systems to free everyone else! Meanwhile, the attack team consisting of the other X-Babies were fighting the creepy imitations.

The only thing was that these imitations can’t feel pain and they were creepily bouncy and stuff! Really, really creepy.

And in the nick of time, Wolvie busts in with the other people they rescued! Also, Wally, Terry and Roy look kinda cute when they’re drawn like this and more dignified! Anyway, Wolvie can’t believe the rest of the X-Babies can’t defeat them and even though Rogue warns him about them not feeling pain, he demonstrates that yes, it can be done.

This is one of the scariest fight scenes I had ever seen especially in an X-Baby comic book since you can actually see him dicing them all up!

Creepier though that they thought they had won but NO. The pieces joined together since they were jellyish and reformed back into their imitations once more AND the programmer brought more backup. AUGH. Took this page with my camera but this is SO AWESOME IN A CREEPY WAY. Can you recognize all of them? Hahahahah. I am amused with Deadpool even being in there. DUR, DUR, DUUUUUR.

Batman: The Cat and the Bat, not so much screenshots because all of the pages are awesome! It’s a compilation of Batman Confidential issues where Barbara Gordon is Batgirl and meets Catwoman for the first time. The whole thing is sassy, fun and expressive. Yeah, expressive. The artwork on the characters shows their expressions and you won’t be able to not imagine how their lines are said. Besides, Babs and Selina? You know it’s an exciting cat fight when they both of them are combined. GET IT, GET IIIIT.

Yay! Empowered: Wench with a Million Sighs! Okay, for those who haven’t read the previous volumes of Empowered, don’t read this until you’ve read volume 5 at least. This would be a major spoiler once you know where she’s at.

And thus, in the Empowered style of story, we have the main action happening while having cuts to a conversation of the Caged Demonwolf with Thugboy and Ninjette.

Yeah, I can’t believe he talks to Emp’s mother either. Anyway, as they analyze each different sigh, the story moves on and compared to a regular Empowered volume, this isn’t too rated but it still is compared to other comics anyway. Caged Demonwolf is always amusing in his verbose narrations.

It’s amusing cause I like Adam Warren’s style of writing since you’d get little bits of pieces of Emp’s past and yes, it will show how it affected her when she grew up.

Meanwhile in “reality” or rather the past where it happened before Caged Demonwolf’s narration, Emp is fighting Irresistimmovable. All the other Superhomeys are down and it’s up to Emp to defeat him. Considering she’s at a superhero mausoleum, she gets advice from dead superheroes from their tombstones. It’s a prerecorded message thing, you see.

And of course she runs into someone familiar and asks for advice from her instead. Mindf**k, unlike the other heroes is a sensible one and her powers was of telepathy. Also, she gives really, really good advice. In the meantime, I kept trying to look for a certain hero’s tombstone because he was annoying like heck and I wanted him to be dead instead of being an obnoxious creep that would torment Emp in the next volume whenever it comes out.

Of course even in fighting, Emp has quite a lot of sighing when she does so. Each sigh is just so meaningful of each situation, heh.

Especially when the sighs increase and then she gets really frustrated. Heh, Emp can be so freaking awesome then. Needless to say, the day is saved and well, she still sighs at the end of the story. Hahahaha! Okay yeah, get it only if you read the other volumes. You can read it without reading the rest but, you’ll just get spoilered especially for volume 5 if you do so.

Yes, she is Red freaking Sonja! No one else would wear a chainmaille bikini and ride around on a horse in that attire! Queen Sonja #2 continues to her “flashback” thingy where it started in issue 1. Yeah, it’s weird if you just got this issue without reading the first since all “this” has happened. It’s to show why she’s called Queen Sonja now.

Anyway, these bunch of bandits had made off with an old woman’s belongings. Normally, if Sonja learns that they are evil men or they had been banditing (WHAT IS A VERB FOR BANDIT?!) for ENJOYMENT, she’d cut their heads off straight away. Considering the ladies explained themselves what had happened, she is nice and merciful. Only that they had to return the goods pronto and that she will follow them to see what had happened to drive them to banditry (Obvious answer: Evil, evil men!)!

There’s story ‘recaps’ by the bandits and the pages are gorgeous in that classic way of story recaps. Ever seen Conan or well old barbarian movies before? You get pages of landscapes and such with just the right amount of text but the visuals tell the story more.

So soon her “band” was captured and they were taken near a site where they found out where all the people were taken as slaves to. Those that read this issue can pretty much tell who her “band” of ladies are and I do mean ladies in a title sense.

She’s got enough and actually pretty much pretended to be caught and went insane on the captors once they were at a nice strategic spot over seeing the land and yet still in the distance from the guards below. I got to say though, when she does flying kicks and all like that… DOES she wear anything underneath that?

If not, I guess that’s why the guys are dead. If you see her girly bits, it is a sign that you will die. For reals. So anyway, Red Sonja is pretty scary and slightly biased on ladies but she’s helpful. Onwards to issue #3 whenever it comes out then. There’s going to be much bloodshed as usual.

On to Emily the Strange – The Thirteenth Hour #2, I got startled by the sudden Emily BJD ad in the pages. There seems to be more ads for BJDs in comics nowadays. Hmm. You can get her at the official Emily the Strange website. If you haven’t read an Emily comic before, it’s black and white and sometimes on rare occasions, it can be bright red!

It’s pretty wordy for a comic and it will confuse you in her journey to strange places.

It’s her 13th birthday you see and she lost her watch, taken by an evil being!

I just like all the cats in it and it’s pretty deep and punny!

Heh a soft spot for fuzzy things. As I said, it can get literal and punny. I like those. In this end of this issue, she’s getting closer to the point of finding her watch, yay! It is like a journey of self discovery of a gothic Alice in wonderland.

Models Inc #4, the end of the little series. It feels like Marvel is redoing old classic characters and making them into new series for people to buy or something. That’s Sachet Nelson, the artist. Disapproving artist is disapproving.

It was certainly a soap opera kind of ending. Or a mixture of Nancy Drew and uh, models.

Okay, all the cool lines were actually in issue #3. This one is more like finishing things up to a conclusion. Chili is totally cool, she actually did learn stuff from Patsy aka Hellcat and instead of Patsy being watched, they should have been wary on ALL the models there.

What was pissy though that in the first issue there was some weird werewolf vibe going on. APPARENTLY, IT WAS A RED HERRING. Nothing to do with werewolves. Just dead artists and expensive paintings.

Set with models and characters from retro classic Marvel series. I’m liking Chili, she’s very lively compared to the rest besides Patsy and okay, it’s also pretty much because she is the sassy one. Chili, like her name is hot stuff. Sheesh.

Oh and hey there… Using a cast to hit a person and then whapping them in the face? Or to be more exact, whunktting them seems to be painful for all parties involved. Seriously, a fractured arm is in a cast for a reason. BECAUSE IT IS FRACTURED. Whatever, all was a happy day ending as the models strut their stuff.

The ending was kind of nice in a way that it’s predictable. It’s not the predictability that makes it nice, it’s the whole HEY, it’s MARVEL and they actually gave us a happy ending including a cast of females who are although models, aren’t that ditzy, peppering with quite witty lines at times and situations. You don’t get too many happy SPECIFIC endings in Marvel comics nowadays so this was cute too since they didn’t make the ladies too like bitchy skanky hos like Marvel Divas unbelievable.
Yay, yay so good bye limited Models Inc run, you didn’t blow it off too bad and you sure knew when to end before it got draggy.

Gotham City Sirens #6! Last we saw, Ivy and Catwoman were in their own specific traps. Well, they got out of it and were chasing after Gagsworth who pulled Harley along with him.

Ivy when combined with Catwoman can be funny in her serious droll way. Don’t worry about them, they know how to handle themselves out of this mess for Selina has… a handphone!

Meanwhile, Harley gets monologued by Gagsworth and is clearly unimpressed. He is such a delusional little troll.

He keeps on telling her how fun he had with Mister J… Right… Yes… That totally happened, Gagsworth.

Harley of course is still really, really unimpressed.

Anyway, Ivy and Catwoman finally managed to bust through the traps with the help of Jenna, their contractor and get through to Harley. This scene ironic yet poetic since you’ll recognize why if you’re really a Harley fan.

And off home they go in Jenna’s van where Harley asks them if she was too obsessed with Mister J since Gagsworth was too over delusional about Joker. Cute, real cute there. Also, I like this scene with all their expressions there of duhness.

And of course Harley vows not to get with Mister J again… But then he might have changed for the better and starts to ramble and as always… Heh, Ivy, I knooow, you’re just jealous. Yes. The ending’s cute in a not really cute way but it ends of with a good conclusion for this arc of the series. What made me go what the heck though was this:

This ad of Batman & Robin in there. What… What the heck is Robin wearing? I admit, I do not read Batman but I can’t remember when he ever wore something fruity like that?! I see the Batcycle looks different? But uh ROBIN WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? It confuses me because it can’t be a going back in time storyline because they have motorcycles yet Robin is wearing something like he’s going for a Romeo & Juliet audition (with Batsy as Juliet?!?) or something. SOMEONE TELL ME WHY? That IS Robin, right?

Okay the last one is the Buffy and Angel collector’s figurine #2, the comic shop owner guy told me that there were 3 and that the last one might be Willow.

And the cast pic for the back of it. Aww, no Lorne but there’s a Fred! So yay to that, it means it’s not the “earlier” seasons since she only appeared much later and Cordelia is blonde-ish here.

Like the first issue, it had facts from the series, the comics and other developments. Heh, I always found puppet Angel pretty funny. He has a removable nose, did you know? Right and like the first issue, it came with an Angel figurine. My comment on it is that it’s pretty dark. Cause duh, it’s Angel. He keeps wearing black and stuff so yes, the paint job for the figurine is pretty much dark colours.

Yep. Pretty dark. Anyway till next shipment! That’s it for reaction shots!

As usual, click to enlarge. Spoilerific as always. My reactions to the whole thing and the figurine collection is a review of what I got!

Yet again, we see her outfit in Sarah vision. It’s pretty easy to do compared to other superhero outfits. She tends to take off her goggles though but hey, I do not think that’s advisable since what if someone could see and figure out who she was? Which is pretty much about Nomad: Girl Without A World #3 is about. Sorta. In any case, she still doesn’t know who gave her the outfit and in my opinion, it’s a very practical suit. Probably warm too in cold weather and the goggles help in the whole swinging around in the air thing!

In the last issue, this dimension’s John wanted to kiss Rikki (yes, Nomad is now a girl FYI) and she freaked out because hey, he was her brother in her own dimension!

It would be so, so wrong if she did it. Legally, it wouldn’t be because hey look at Pietro and Wanda in Ultimates since he’s not the same brother from her own dimension. Ethically wrong in her part but not legally wrong…

Anywho, because of the terrorist incident, John’s got all hospitalized and is being a skinhead due to his injuries and all. This got major flashbacks for Rikki in her own backstory where her dimension’s brother was a neo-Nazi skinhead and all. I nearly forgot this is issue 3 of 4 which meant it ends the next issue.

Got to say, I wondered how she charged her shield thing. Plug it to a power point or does it come with a usb port? Hmmm. Anyway, SHE REVEALED HER IDENTITY AT A SCHOOL ASSEMBLY. Considering she did this only at the school and that most of the students were brainwashed somehow… Something tells me that it won’t affect her much after the conclusion in issue 4. I’m predicting a whole “Woah, what happened? I can’t remember” thing here.

If not, then heh, well it will be interesting to see what happens. John is surprised she did that and I think he might be able to help. He didn’t even know Rikki was Nomad but after that confession, I think he feels it so odd and even though he’s pissed with her, he can’t help but care since it’s so suspicious.

Booyah, the end page is just so douchey which is good because the reveal of the true villain of the story who is actually commanding all these students. He looks like you want to punch his face in with his arrogant introduction of his name. Well, you want to punch him more than that Flag guy in issue 2 because this guy means it. Okay, that’s it for issue 3 because we’re left hanging there and we have no idea if Nomad’s gonna stick to this dimension or if she’s going to be… what exactly??

Future unclear, try again later. I hope she pulls through and gets to be friends with John again though.

I don’t know who does the preview text for X-Men Legacy #229 but for those that didn’t see it, it goes like this:

As Rogue continues her mission, Gambit goes on one of his own. His mission will push him down a dark road that will shock X-Fans everywhere!

Right.

Shock X-Fans everywhere.

You know what the shock was?

Gambit cosplaying as a red eyed Drizzt.

BWUAHAHHA okay… So the shock wasn’t that shock shocking. It just made me go, “Okay, that panel with him being tied to that machine by Apocalypse… That’s actually looks pretty hot”.

BECAUSE IT WAS.

And le sigh, guess we’ll see what happens in the next issue or so because we only get pages of him staggering in pain since we don’t know much of what Apocalypse did to him. Hmm, I keep wanting to spell Alpacalypse which would be a weird llama version of him…

Oh Rogue! And Bling! I love this part of the series because of the maximum Rogueness of it. No prizes, my fav char is Rogue because she’s hot and awesome and overall… A SPITFIRE, SUGAH! After borrowing of Trance’s power, she gets into the hole that she can see into another dimension of sorts to find Bling. Obviously she cares a lot not to send a “newbie” off to search for Bling since she has more experience and all.

I would like to add disapproving Gambit is a hot Gambit.

The art for this issue is very eye pleasing. I like the style of it where you have black outlines but none of it “inside” of the objects. Anywho, Rogue and Bling gets all smackdowny Emplate.

Sorta.

They’re stuck in Emplate’s fortress and he can change his density so oh-oh Rogue! Issue ends there with a panel of Emplate’s scary hands trying to suck Rogue while she’s a ghosty yet with oddly perky boobs. Come on Cyclops and team! Bust through with your new portal machine thingy!

Meanwhile, Dr Horrible issue 1! It’s a one shot but hey, we won’t know if there will be future comics from this show! We get an insight and a semi-history of a superhero that came before Captain Hammer and why young Billy started rooting for the bad guys.

Fast forward time and we get to see Captain Hammer’s first meeting with Dr Horrible. He’s so, so obnoxious even in comic form. This whole comic happens before the web musical series! So Dr Horrible history, woooh.

And Penny with her laundry. She’s so sweet and cute too. Billy still doesn’t say much to her at the moment except sees her separating her unmentionables and stuff.

Hey it’s Moist! I find it pretty cool that the characters in the comic do look like their real life counter parts. You can even imagine Moist’s voice whining and making a point to Billy. He’s actually pretty logical even if he’s kinda… moist.

The issue ends with an awesome blast! It’s so awesome of what Dr Horrible did and Captain Hammer, oh man you could see how reckless he is, having no disregard for the public when he wants to hurt any villain. So thus, Dr Horrible and Moist escapes! Yaaaaay. It’s totally something to go with the DVD or maybe future collector’s item or something.

Which leads to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Angel) first figurine collection #1! It totally had the warning of it being lead based and that you should wash your hands after handling it. I wanted to just buy Buffy cause Angel is broody but the guys at the comic shop told me that I needed to buy Angel because they are a set! And yeah, it’s kinda sad if Buffy doesn’t have an Angel so I’ll get him next week or something.

I was thinking that this was such an old season photo of the group that it’s so aww. It doesn’t have Faith nor Angel though and then I remembered that Angel will probably be with Cordelia and his own crew for the other figurine collection. Faith is a bonus character to the cast of BtVS anyway since she’s always been the “outsider”. The pose with Riley reminds me of the latest issue of season 8. So awwwww.

Okay inside the magazine/guidebook thing was pretty much trivia and info on the whole series including the comics! Nothing that I didn’t know much if you’ve read the internets and all. However, they did included sketches and extra interview info on the Buffy animated series! (Hint: You can find one episode on youtube, it’s pretty punny.)

Pretty much a summary of BtVS and their other things besides the TV series. I didn’t know everything but I knew the stuff they referred to since this mag had more in depth detail on why the animated series wasn’t carried out and where season 8 will go etc, etc.

There’s a spread about the figurine included. It’s from season 3! If you have the dvd or check an episode… ahem… somewhere, you can see it in the opening. It’s from that fight scene where the villain asks her and I’m paraphrasing here, “What’s left then?” and she replies “Me!” and shoves the sword pointed at her back to him and goes fighty insane. Or I could be mixing up my season enders but I doubt so since this is the season where she goes as “Anne”.

Okay, I’m wrapping up this post and after freaking out on how to open the box, using a plastic bag to handle the figurine and then replacing it back, wiping the plastic with sterilizing alcohol including my hands, I give you a 360 view of it! This is also especially for Arrch who does mini figurine painting and might appreciate the handpainted craftwork here!

In X-Babies #2 , the team landed on a planet and meet Terry (and some other wizard and robot thing near the end). The series is cute and all but yeah, it’s good that it’s a run of 4 issues, anything more it would be a bit draggy. The only reason why I even started on this series is because, yeah, X-Babies gimmick.

Also, baby Rogue is cute. Baby Wolverine is sooo cute too while Cyclops is such a whiner.

I’m not actually sure where the story is going because it seems too formulaic. The X-Babies keep landing themselves in places and certainly everything wants to destroy them since they don’t want to get with the programme (ha ha, I punned there). The parodies of children shows are kinda amusing though.

Meanwhile, Mojo is certainly out of commission but hey, something tells me since this is 2 of 4, things better start happening in the whole investigation or getting into the “real” world out of the sets. So if anything, they better get things at a point where they find Mojo in issue 3 and have the ultimate fight or some ironic ending in issue 4 with the new programmers.

70% chance the programmers get stuck into their own tv-show for the entertainment of Mojo/ X-Babies.

40% chance of zombies being involved because Marvel seems to just get into an insane random add zombies into anything for fun.

Ironically, the main story didn’t engage me as much as the preview ad comic of Planet Terry at the back of the comic. He really is from an 80s comic and the preview of the story made the character so whiny that I had to check if he was real.

Planet Terry seemed like a parody of Superman. A whinier, cheesier child friendly (?) version of Superman anyway who is on the search for his parents. But hey, it was the 80s.

That makes much sense of considering what villains and stories they had back then. Fun fact, the other people they met includes Wally the Wizard and Royal Roy who are really retro Marvel characters in the past. Anyway, the preview stopped at the point where a convenient prospector knows who his parents are and the rest of it would be in Stars Comics All-Star Collection Volume 1, on sale on 25th November. So blaaaaar. Seems like they’re using the X-Babies to advertise their other comics??

I rather like Stephanie Brown as Batgirl more than Cassandra Cain. Maybe cause you can see that she’s pretty much a smart ass and less angsty than Cass. In Batgirl #4, you start to see Babs as being the ‘straight guy’ to bounce off with Stephanie’s goofiness. Not like they’re a pair of comedians but you can certainly see the balance between the two of them.

So Steph’s got to try out her new suit in action instead of sticking in the Batcave for testing instead. It’s cute that she got to test out swinging around with the grapple hook and beat up some bad guys too. However, in the middle of the storyline and all, I had to stare at her outfit and break it down from a cosplayer’s point of view.

It’s a pretty good outfit this time, looks very safe and padded too somehow. Oh yeah, if you don’t know what’s SoyJoy, you should watch the ad here. Bwur hur.

First night out and something major is happening. Steph’s busy with the latest crime while Babs is also busy at the Thompkins Clinic seeing Wendy. The writer of the story seems to love doing similarities. Or some term which I can’t remember but is probably in my freaking thick film storytelling textbook that’s currently in storage. Main point, even though Steph and Babs are in different places and doing their own thing, their stories entwine with each other in a way that shows how they are even if those two characters don’t tell each other said things.

Meanwhile, Babs sees herself with Wendy’s struggle with herself after the loss of her legs. Also, Steph’s fight with the “boss” of this issue is funny. I guess I like her because I am reminded of Buffy, the whole witty quip thing before laying the smackdown. Steph seems to like the witty lines!

If you noticed my costume breakdown, I have no idea what her suit is made of in that universe, I know rubber is definitely fused in there somewhere though.

Considering Babs is giving Steph a ride home, I wonder how that would look like, heh. Of course naturally she would give her a ride when she’s out of costume. Still, would be a funny thought to imagine Batgirl sitting in a car.

Hi ho everyone. Since twitter is just 140 characters, it is clearly not enough for me to squee over the comics I get weekly (or at least whenever a new shipment has the comics that is in my list reserved at G&B Comics).

So this is my first episode of Reaction Shots! Yes, spoilers are included so don’t click if you don’t want to be spoilered. Oh and the illustration above is done by the lovely Mae of Space Kitties! This ain’t a “review” post but more of my own reactions of the comics.

Buffy #30! Naturally, I got both covers (whenever possible unless one of them gets sold out). The variant cover by Adam Hughes (the one on the left there) is beautiful. Not saying that the Georges Jeanty one isn’t pretty but I like Adam Hughes’ art because his noses are sexy.

Well, it’s more of the colouring, expression and style too but if you see how he draws noses, it’s pretty pretty!

We’re in the middle of the war for this one. Also, don’t you just love irony in the first page? Anywho, every time Twilight is mentioned, I keep thinking Edward Cullen which is so uuuugh. Nonetheless, we still don’t know who Twilight is! He seems to know all of them pretty well though. Too bad comics are read and not heard. Maybe we would have recognized who he was if we listened to his voice.

Blar, the scanner is bad here but I think someone really can make that outfit of Twilight’s. It’s not that terribly hard to do the mask anyway. GAH. What IF it was Edward Cullen underneath it? Okay, maybe not. I had a sudden theory on what if it was Spike but noooo, why would he do that? Besides, he’s kinda alive on the other comic universe with Angel.

Every thing’s a mess since it’s war and the Goddesses are stomping everything up. No one’s got their powers back which is SO freaking interesting because the baddies have everything.

Oz’s wife. Aaaah. I hope she makes it. She seems to be doing well but since this is BtVS, one can never know. Buffy and Dawn realizes the Goddesses are TOTALLY not on anyone’s side. They’re just… killing everyone! And Faith seems pissy at the newbies who keep asking if they’re gonna get their powers back.

And then MAJOR FREAKING “Woah, I didn’t see THAT!” moment when we realize Riley’s in the army but only as a spy for the Buffster and crew. There’s an awwwww Buffy/Riley moment (and a Buffy/Xander moment where Dawn looks rather jealously or “What are you doing?” at her) and he doesn’t seem to be in good shape. No Riley, nooo. Don’t die!

The ending of that issue made me say the same line as Buffy. WHAT THE HELL?! Oh man, she’s flying, the people are captured by the baddies and the Goddesses are looking at something in the distance? Thank goodness I know next issue is NOT a “season ender” or anything of that sort coming close. We know someone always dies or a major “AAARGH, ARRRGH” moment if it’s a season ender and it’s not yet for this Season 8. Also, we need more Faiiiith. I know this is BtVS but hey! GIMME SOME FAITH. She seems to be fine with Buffy but now that she’s probably captured with the newbies and the rest of the unpowered crew, surely there’ll be something going on with her to help them out too.

Plus, she’s a spitfire anyway. Even without powers, she can be quite scary anywho so hopefully she’ll take care of the “inside” in calming the slayers down or whatever by being typically her while Buffy figures out what the heck is happening.

OH YES. Saw the tiny preview picture of a Willow one-shot coming out on 23 December. I hope my shop saves a copy for me because LOOK AT THE COVER! IT IS JO CHEN’S ART! Also, I like the subject anywho. Snakey ladyyyyyyyy. It reminds me of a renaissance painting from the positioning of the characters and cloth too. From past issues and references in the main comic, I think that’s Hecate.

Onwards with Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love. CINDY IS BEING AWESOME. She’s a spy, jet setting around the world on missions and stuff. In this first issue, we get an intro about what she’s up to and everything. Starring the witch, Frau Totenkinder as her “Q” as she equips her with some enchanted items for her mission (but not without a price). Beast is apparently her boss and heh, the whole mission briefing thing is so like a typical spy movie including the whole pointing and saying sternly “I’m counting on you” bit.

Hello there puss-puss! Hahaha, Puss in Boots aka Marquis De Carabas, Jenny Wren the bird and Dickory the mouse are totally gonna appear when she needs them most via a charm bracelet thing she got spelled to summon them. The question is WHEN. And how the heck are they gonna help out, we don’t know. Well, we do since Cindy stated what skills they all have but more of, once they are summoned, how are they gonna go back? Hmmmm.

Meanwhile, this issue reads a whole lot like a spy movie. Blast some OST from Bond or something because with panels of maps and monologue boxes of what Cindy is thinking, this is groovalicious.

Considering this is just a 6 issue thing, I’m probably gonna try to collect them all.
