You writer\/artsy types, go apply!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Mentor Access Project (MAP), organised by National Arts Council,<br \/>\nis now open for applications for its sixth intake starting in July<br \/>\n2008. MAP is an 18-month mentorship programme to ensure the sustained<br \/>\ndevelopment of emerging writers by providing them with mentorship<br \/>\nopportunities and ongoing critical feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from having the privilege of being tutored by an established<br \/>\nwriter\/playwright, participants will enjoy opportunities for peer<br \/>\ninteraction and to foster stronger connections with the Singapore<br \/>\nliterary scene.<\/p>\n<p>Selected applicants can also participate in Masterclass Talks and<br \/>\nworkshops conducted by established writers, public readings, as well<br \/>\nas discussion forums and talks covering the business of publishing,<br \/>\nsuch as copyrights and literary representations (agents).<\/p>\n<p>The New Book Initiative enables promising original works submitted by<br \/>\nMAP participants to be considered for book publication, in conjunction<br \/>\nwith NAC&#8217;s Publishing and Translation Grant. This is on top of<br \/>\nenjoying publishing opportunities in an online literary journal to be<br \/>\nproduced by MAP at the end of the mentorship period.<\/p>\n<p>MAP is managed by mediaexodus whose team members include Yong Shu<br \/>\nHoong, a published poet and Singapore Literature Prize 2006 winner,<br \/>\nand Enoch Ng, General Manager of mediaexodus (and its imprint,<br \/>\nfirstfruits publications)<wbr><\/wbr>, a Golden Point Award first-prize winner.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are open to Singaporean citizens or permanent residents,<br \/>\naged 18 years and above, writing in the field of poetry, prose or<br \/>\ndrama in any of the four official languages.
