Did you know the theme for Singapore’s national day this year (2025) for SG60 is “Building Our Singapore Together”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the official site (https:\/\/www.sg60.gov.sg\/<\/a>), it says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SG60 aims to celebrate our nation-building journey and reflect on our shared values <\/strong>of multiculturalism, boldness, resilience and openness that have united us and allowed us to prosper against the odds over the past 60 years.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I just find it ironic, that we have to keep building up and up because whatever is built up, eventually does crash down or end. It’s a bit understated but it’s there even on the website that it states “resilience”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s just. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes<\/em>, it’s hard to build up again when you’re in the middle of the crash. You start to think, was it all worth it? Can you do it again? Do I<\/em> want to do it all again, will the end result be different?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It’s not the end of the year yet but The Projector is closing. I know it meant a lot to people but that’s how it goes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like any other independent cinema in Singapore before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people. The community. The experiences, we won’t have it any more. Will we have another place that will bring us together like this? I don’t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the end of Fluff Bakery too. The taste of their cupcakes will be gone. I mean, anyone else can make cupcakes, but theirs, it will be gone by this September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wow, I really do have a picture in my gallery for nearly every moment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Even Cathay Cineplexes is said to have ceased operations after their 1st September announcement and that it would enter creditors’ voluntary liquidation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything ends eventually<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Singapore things don’t stay the same, you have to adapt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it just disappears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People always like to say carpe diem because it’s a fancy Latin term that means seize the day, in a YOLO-isque kind of way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Merriam Webster dictionary states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the enjoyment of the pleasures of the moment without concern for the future<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I like it. But I’m not without concern for the future. That’s why I go with memento mori<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember you must die<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Everything will eventually end but it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate it while we have it right? It’s just. It’s so tiring isn’t it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We just have to suck it up and adapt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I guess that’s why I like to take photos and videos. Cause even if anything ends, I can look back to see what happened. We can’t taste the recipes once more, we can’t be in the same places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took this picture during the last Hari Raya<\/em>. Actually, it’s part of an album with my family but obviously I wouldn’t post it here (stay internet safe, people!). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I remember how this was like. Or where was this taken. Or what led up to this and who was there. Next Hari Raya, we might not have our bandung<\/em> drink, or the same way we had it because my uncle passed away last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, I guess I got to suck it up and adapt. Someone has to make the bandung<\/em> next year but it won’t be just me, cause I know my whole family adapts and gets in action.
