It’s closing and I don’t know

Dear future!Sarah,

Warung Nasi Pariaman is closing on 31 January 2026 and I don’t know why. Maybe you’ll know why in the future when you look back on this. Or if someone commented why.

Because no one knows.

The actual Berita news even reported it on TV last night with the shortest report on it with just the shot of the shop and “Warung Nasi Pariaman is closing on 31 January” in Malay, of course.

And everyone is gossiping.

The First SG Camera Convention in Singapore

This is the first SG Camera Convention held at Capitol Piazza that I knew of. Or the first one ever that was held here in Singapore to my knowledge.

SG Camera Con entrance

I happened upon it when it showed up in my Instagram feed and it was indeed in my interest.

It showed up a few days before the convention so I was lucky to see it.

Ironically, I didn’t see much publicity about it too…

In any case, this was a pretty fun small convention but full of people who were interested in cameras, lens and accessories.

Convention hall of sg camera con filled with people

It said what it said.

There were official brands there.

people interviewing at the aputure booth

And there were shops that I tended to buy from too and some demos.

I went to the vertical talk since I had activities for the other days and that was an interest of mine.

This talk was by Gavin Lim of Black Tactical Unit and he was going to run a workshop about micro dramas (details not out yet at the time of this post but I guess just go check their instagram page)

And yes, I’m very interested in vertical reels but commercially in Singapore, it’s not trashy enough.

Everyone is too standard and using more traditional to 16:9 plotlines which is nice but you got to know.

People who watch vertical videos want unrealistic trashy plotlines and the ones here so far are just ‘decent’ or restrtictive. That’s my personal opinion anyway.

The vendors had cheaper prices than usual and I got to check some lights I had been interested in to see how it was in real life.

So ok, that’s fun.

Maybe they’ll have another one next year and hopefully with more publicity??

It was actually busy too so somehow it really did spread to a lot of photographers and people who use videocameras. Not the typical hobbyists which gave a different kind of vibe and.

Ok, WHO ACTUALLY ORGANIZED THIS? I still don’t know. It really was a happenschance that I managed to attend it. The curation of the booths were nice, I actually laughed when I saw Cathay Photo there because I was told if you bought stuff there (they had special prices for the convention for some items), you could just pick it up at their main store next street over.

Really, a lot of booths had some shops nearby cause if you don’t know the Peninsula Plaza area and the surrounding place, it is the place for camera and accessories so hence it was nice to see the official brands making an appearance at this convention.

I liked it. Perhaps maybe there will be more talks or demos by the brands themselves too besides at their booths?

Anyway, in the land of a lot of high res cameras and photographers and videographers, I decided to take everything down to low res and make a highlight using my Kodak Charmera so there you go.

It was 2016 and then 2026

There’s a 2016 meme happening now in 2026 where you look back in pictures 10 years ago on instagram.

I looked back into the my Facebook album since I remembered if I posted any pictures then, it would be there carefully saved in its own year’s album.

And then I realized that was the year I went to Japan for the first time with my friends.

Embrace a Ragey New Year: A Realistic Perspective

Ragey New Year everyone! By the way, all pictures here are taken with my Charmera for that 90s feel.

point of view from a double decker bus going through little india

Apparently people have work have noticed me being angry and it’s the start of the year. But, why not? When every year I have observed and put in my own data (I actually put in a google sheets) of happenings (not weeks, it’s months and years) and noticed that if people won’t change themselves.

The only thing I can change is myself isn’t it?

So no. I’m not going to wish a happy new year. It’s not a fits-all greeting. I’m wishing you all a ragey new year to those who get it and need it too.

I tend to not talk behind people’s backs, I talk in front of themselves. Because why talk behind people’s backs when you can talk in front of them so they can take note and then improve themselves, hmm?

And because they do not, then it’s RAGEY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

POSB Squirrel on a blue volkswagen

I mean, what’s the point of wishing happy new year when you know it is going to suck or that the people who actually think to wish it happy new year do nothing to make it happy.

The rest of the year just ends up more depressing.

Shut it with toxic positivity and gas lighting.

I wish you a ragey new year. Perhaps you’ll start it really angry and then it actually ends happy.

What’s ironic is even when I’m really seemingly angry to them all, they still approach me because they know things still get done. Which is ridiculous really since I tend to have to fix other people’s shortcomings so excuse me, why shouldn’t I be angry? It’s a right.

Thus, let’s start off things differently compared to other years.

orchard road

As I walked around Orchard road for some errands too, I just wondered if this point is where the Orchard Road Fashion account usually takes videos or photos from.

That’s just me being curious and nothing to do with being angry, or IS IT.

a crow

Nonetheless, there was a cute crow who flew down and landed at the crossing bollards and I managed to take some close ups.

temasek shophouse

What would you guys do. Will you continue the year with a fake happy start even if you know it isn’t going to be happy?

Lunar New Year is going to be next month so you can have a Take 2 of a new year too.

Technically you can take any time, any month, any day to reset.

Your own life is your own.

Just the start of the year is when everyone else as a majority would like to “restart” but you can have a head start on restarting any time once you know where you would like to go or do.

How can you influence those around you when they will not change for the better no matter how many notices or warnings they get?

Perhaps the only solution is to change yourself to go around them and shock them into action. And if they still won’t, at least you’ve tried it and you can put it in findings (I’m kinda data driven on my own in qualitative findings, not quantitative) and do an alternative way.

singapore public phone

Of course, you have to first identify are you the problem? And if not, what other things to mitigate it?

With that, I leave you with a fun fact.

The payphones in Singapore by Singtel are free for you to call locally for up to 3 minutes if you can find them.

Also why is it free?

You can’t officially buy Singtel phonecards for payphones any more. Any available cards are just collector’s items. And my guess is that it’s difficult to tear up all the existing phone lines and phones that are built along the road or HDBs for decades.

It’s better to keep it there and be used for emergencies, isn’t it?

That’s one way of finding solutions and adapting to the times.

Ragey New Year everyone, feel free to comment the same to me.

It is 2026

Howdy or rather Ahoy to you all. It’s 2026 and since this is my blog aka web log for those who don’t know the term, it’s basically an online journal. Yeah. I know everyone’s gone short form of video or reels or whatever but sometimes you just want to read tea or gossip that isn’t serious, right?

Well, this is my blog so it’s pretty much my opinions and reactions. I’m not doing a substack or patreon for this because I already have google ads on the side somewhere so it’s still “free” for you to read.

Hobonichi journal with pen in the pen slot of the cover

That’s my Hobonichi with the Bijutsukai (Ferry) cover. That’s my “offline’ or real life journal or diary which is mostly for me. But I know some of you guys wanted to know what journal I used and it’s an A6 Japanese Day-Free one. It worked for me cause I don’t have to write in every day but when I want to. All I had to do was just get the 2026 refill to put in and I sealed up the 2025 one in a ziplock bag to seal the energies away.

Or you know, so that no moisture gets in and we’ll be able to read it in the far future what I was up too in that written journal.

Egg prata and plain prata with fish curry and a cup of milk tea

So what have I been up to? A lot of things but I wanted to tell you guys, the main point of my blog is for those who can’t. Whether they’re not in Singapore cause they’ve travelled abroad, are tourists who miss this country or are friends who just wanna keep up. Well, this is for you guys.

That’s the first prata of the year I ate by the way. $3 for that plain and egg prata with fish curry. And a $1.50 teh. Just so we can see if prices rise up by the end of the year or something.

And yes, Sarah’s blog posts are coming back every Monday. So you can see what I’ve updated, it’s not going to be the same series for each Monday. It might be a reaction shot, a review, happenings, or my adventures around Singapore.

Yes, Sarah Does Singapore is back. However this time, it might be more of a YOLO thing or a return to the adventures. Ever since I started those seasons last time, a lot of places have closed down.

Rent has been a huge factor to these places and now, what I blog shall be more of an online artefact, perhaps? To document what has happened and if you want to try out something, just do it. Especially in Singapore where everything keeps changing.

Oh I walked around Marina Square and saw that Perfume Vending Machine. 2 sprays for just $1. You know, they need this machine to be used during a comic convention perhaps.

Perfumes available

Honestly, I actually like Jo Malone’s Pear and Freesia but it’s so expensive. Would it be worth to pay $1 to smell like it?

Maybe if I was going out to meet someone, yeah I would. It’s a really nice scent.

Just… you see the caution sign there. Don’t be a dummy and put your eyes in front of the nozzle and click the button to spray yourselves.

Or… Do it but please send me a video of you getting sprayed if you’re being a dummy.

Besides the google ads, if you guys seriously want to support me, feel free to contribute to my Throne Account here.

Thanks for “Anon” who I actually know is one of my viewers, I got a salad spinner. Yeah, I just want practical items most of the time…

If you’re new to this whole blog thing, you can comment but I might not reply or even publish it at times cause there’s sometimes spam for it.

Also if you’re new here. Hello.

I’m Seriously Sarah from Singapore. I’m going to post a lot more stuff happening around here so don’t expect anything too serious. I don’t get paid by anyone to do this and hence you’ll get unhinged opinions or observations.
