Fotocine 500D film and the Kodak Snapic A1

As of now (20 July 2026), it’s been a few days since the Kodak EC35 35mm film camera announcement. I know anyone who has been looking at that are also checking back how was the Snapic A1 cause do we really need another camera?

I’d say yes for the fun of it but hey, I too own a Kodak ektar h35n and it’s an entirely different feeling too.

Anywho, I wanted to also show you Fotohub’s film which I was curious about.

It’s a 500D film, by Fotohub themselves but they called it FOTOCINE film with 27 exposures. Basically, I didn’t want to try peel off the casing to see what they had rebranded over or really, what film is this? Fotohub is a Singapore company so I’m confused if we had reels of film available here in Singapore.

Especially when it has to be ECN2 processed so it’s got remjet on it? You can’t do the normal processing for it.

I loaded it into my Kodak Snapic A1 (I got from 8 Storey Tree) to see how both the camera and the film is like. So whatever you see, just know this is under Singapore’s super sunny and hot weather.

The Snapic A1 has the cool double exposure function so that’s neat, I know I used this at around late afternoon so the light wasn’t super blinding but it was still bright.

You can start to see this is very high contrast kind of film and the greens are so deep.

Yes, I walked around City Hall area. This was also a bright sunny day that this contrast and colouring is just so very vivid.

This is taken on a Singapore morning. Yeah, it’s been a very sunny season lately. But you can tell the quality of the glass of the camera lets you see the shine like that.

Considering it’s 500D, it’s very high grain for some reason and high contrast. It’s not my style of film but hey, I just wanted to see what the heck IS this film?

From the scans (by Fotohub themselves), it also doesn’t show any halation effect.

Just really high contrast and grain for darker areas.

Could you make a guess what this film is actually from? Or did they finally get to manufacture film themselves??

It’s an interesting film but not exactly my style.

Still, it means I can develop my other film at fotohub now since they do scanning services.

FYI, I just like the Kodak Gold 200 look, a more mellow ‘retro’ vibe for me.

Will you guys get the EC35? It’s more of a point and click type. I’m quite enjoying the Snapic A1.
