So cheesy!

By the flyer

The F1 Building is near the flyer and was closest to Promenade MRT station. Well, I followed the map and did end up at Savour 2013! That’s a very fancy food convention. I was there because HBO Asia invited me for their Game of Thrones screening!

Free coffee!

Nespresso was a sponsor so there were four coupons for free coffee at their various booths. Anyway I took the iced machiatto since it was a very hot day. The event was later in the evening but I received Savour Dollars with my ticket so wooooh, I could look see and buy stuff!

The lounge My tags to enter!

I was walking around and buying some stuff but then Hisham spotted me and I went “ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH” cause he received a Game of Thrones lanyard and it is a very pretty lanyard. Since I was early as heck, I went to the lounge and said hello to the HBO people before Danaerys ran out or something because you could pick which character you wanted!

So lanyard got, ok, BACK TO LOOK-SEEING.

Brandon, Surath and Miguel

There were performances on stage and woaah, ok. They’re really good. This was Brandon and Surath’s set featuring Miguel. He really could sing well and it was a super enjoyable performance. The audience kept increasing cause they were all, “WOAH, THIS KID. HE CAN SING”.

Canollo!

I got myself a canollo from one of the booths. It’s ricotta cheese with candied fruits inside. Ha ha ha ha, dessert cheese. Too bad I wasn’t at Savour earlier or else I could sit in on their workshops for making cupcakes or other food demonstrations. It’s worth it if you wanna mingle with chefs and all that too.

Just imagine my usual cosplay conventions and replace it with food.

CHEESE!

And then there’s also the market. I went to Jason’s and they are featuring some cheeses that aren’t stocked yet in their market. I REALLY LIKE THEIR ORANGE CHEESE. It is like camembert but you taste the orange in it. Not like just meh meh peels, but the orange permeated throughout it.

Not too soft like those cream cheeses with fruit yet, so good to eat on its own.

ALSO, THEY HAD A LOT OF SAMPLES. HA HA HA HA. I managed to eat the ones I haven’t bought before and ok. I know what cheeses I like and if they ever did samples like these at their main stores, a lot more people would wanna buy them.

OH YES, I GOT TO TASTE TETE DE MOINE which is Monk’s head cheese. It is said to be fancy-fancy and that you need to have an acquired taste for it.

WELL.

IT TASTES LIKE IKAN BILIS.

I gasped (in my mind) as I tasted it. Thus, it is a pretty expensive cheese that tastes like… ikan bilis. It’s very salty but hurray that I know how it tastes like now.

Let’s get back to the Game of Thones now.

HBO directing us to the demo area! Demo with chef Claudio Sandri Jon Snow in the snow!

Anywhoooo, we were shown a demo of two recipes from The Feast of Ice and Fire book. Lemon tarts/cakes and Mereneese Lamb. Just click on the links to read the recipes. Also, chef Claudio was assisted by two students from Culina, I think. At least they looked like cheflings.

After the demo, we got back to the lounge and watched the first episode of the latest season of GoT! It’ll be back in Asia on 20 April on HBO so you guys can watch it too if you have the channel.

The professional's lemon tart

SIDETRACK: By the way, this is chef Cladio’s lemon tarts. See how nice it is? This is the medieval version, there are two versions for each food item if you read the book. The modern one and the medieval one. So yes. That is his. I decided that I wanted to try it out too, so… here we go:

Sweet biscuits and lemon tarts

Yeaaaah. Well, the one on the left is sweet biscuits since I had the ingredients anyway. The one on the right is supposed to be like his.

Close enough.

Well. It does taste good even if it looks different. I need to put more spices in mine though.

Atas pasar malam

The whole Savour 2013 affair is pretty cool. It’s like an atas pasar malam. Where there are no Ramly burgers but more kobe beef or whatever super fancy pasta is about. I like the market place more and yesss, I did buy stuff there.

Mamma mia!

Yes. I got cheese.
