Captain Marvel Fan Event in Singapore!

Ok guys, you can read all the other geek sites to know how the stars Brie Larson, Gemma Chan and Samuel L Jackson fared in Singapore during the fan event. This is your aftermath post because we really want to say that wow, IT WAS GOOD.

Firstly I just want to thank the organizing staff (both Disney & MBS and whoever the ‘official’ people are), the volunteers, the security and crew because woah. It really IS good?

NOT TO FORGET THE HOSTS NIKKI MULLER AND BOBBY TONELLI. Oh mein Gott, thank you for them being the hosts.

Ok, with that said, there are minor details that can be improved on but since people do ask me what happens at these fan events, let’s do a recap for everyone.

Comic Fiesta 2018 and tips for 2019

Comic Fiesta 2018 was held at Suria KLCC (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) from 22 to 23 December. That meant we headed our way to the convention on Friday morning using Aeroline! It takes around 5 or 6 hours from Singapore but it’s so convenient since it drops us at Corus hotel which is just a short walk to our own chosen hotel above Suria KLCC.

Knowing people who keep saying they want to go to comic fiesta and then getting all surprised that wow, it’s big or crowded, well.

If you’re reading this then… THIS IS THE COMIC FIESTA SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR YOU.

Comic Fiesta 2017 at KLCC Recap!

Hi, the group went to Comic Fiesta at KLCC in 2017! It’s been a while since CF was back to KLCC so we were excited to go since it’s so easy to get there from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur by bus and stay at Trader’s hotel which is above the convention centre.

And also because I could eat Halal food like Din’s since that’s not available in Singapore.

If you wanted a tl;dr version of Comic Fiesta 2017, you can watch the video above! It was an exciting weekend that I had to split it into three posts. This one is going to be a combined 2 days of CF post.

FCBD at GnB , Yellow Princess and Doujima

6 May 2017 was the first Free Comic Book Day that GnB had at their new premises at Kitchener Complex.

No more queuing up in the heat but it was so much slower than before since it was in air con and… WHY ARE PEOPLE BROWSING AT THE COUNTER?

We have Howard giving up mini prizes to quiz questions while we waited in line.

Overwatch cosplayers

GameStart 2016 was at Suntec and well, at least from my own knowledge, no hijinks occurred involving any random aunties this year at this location.

Also, you probably could called GameStart as Overwatch Convention since yessssss. OW EVERYWHERE.

Ana!!

Because I’m biased, here’s a solo shot (hah!) of Ana.

Ok, OW everywhere and Mystic Messenger too but I don’t play MM.

ICDS 2015 or Attack on Discounts

ICDS poster v2 2015

ICDS is on this weekend! You can check their facebook too. The 22nd and 23rd of August, 11am to 7pm at Scape. This year you do have to pay for entry to all sections of ICDS.

But it’s pretty cheap compared to what you’ll get in there, yeah?

HERE’S THE QUICK STUFF you need to know:

1) It’s $5 for one day $8 for both days. Limited tickets at the door but you can buy online at Peatix. Note: They have an admin fee of $1 so it’s more worth it if you buy with friends online and share the admin fee.

2) Grabtaxi offer for new users to/from Scape only with the code “ICDS2015” for an $8 ride. Which means, if you’re from Jurong to Scape, you’ll get a discount of $8 from the final fee. That’s an example by the way. Or Scape to home… You get the idea. This is only on 22 and 23rd. Bring home your cosplay things/loot. Grabtaxi is available on ios and android.

3) Cosmetics, makeup and such will be on discount during ICDS. Time to stock up for your cosplay

4) First 1000 people to visit ICDS will get a $2 coupon from Anime Yorozuya when you come in to take your booklet/wristband thing at the ticket counters.

5) YES. THIS YEAR the tickets are wristbands so be sure to wear them.

6) Funbie Studios will be there, if you ever wondered how to do 3d printing for cosplay props, TALK TO THEM. Also, this year’s cosplay trophies are 3d printed by them!

7) FREE GABU GABU. Grab your free can of Gabu Gabu while stocks last. It’s delicious. Grab five Gabu Gabu and you’ve already gotten your ticket’s worth already. OMG OK PLEASE DON’T DO THAT. Let others drink too.

8) Oh yes, there’s a DBS atm near the ‘back’ if you need more cash so there’s no reason you can’t really get moolah for what loot you want to get.

Where to buy tickets if at Scape and what are on the various levels?

Dragonboat of Miracles

page 1 of Dragonboat of Miracles

Click to embiggen! You guys, this is the Dragonboat of Miracles, illustrated by DatWorks.

Anyway, what’s this Dragonboat of Miracles?

BUT OHOHOH.

What you don’t know (until now, or if I told you in real life) is that I wrote the story.

Yeah, you wanna read more, click my read more cut.

Or you won’t see the button if you clicked this post directly anyway.

Project Bling

Guys, this is the year in which I’m going to embark on a pretty ambitious cosplay project. Well, ambitious for me anyway since I haven’t cosplay-ed a fancy lady before. A rich fancy lady from a game called Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Josephine Montilyet

I know, the game came out in 2014 and yet I am still playing it and my friends too. It has gone that far. So if you’re playing the game, look out for Josephine. That’s who I’m supposed to cosplay.

As such, there’s going to be a lot of sewing and the only props I need to make is her clipboard and necklace?

However, this will be the first time I have to actually wear proper make up (due to being a fancy lady). Sooo maybe Sephora makeup? I know a lot of you guys like to use them and ok. Going to the store itself can be intimidating, maybe I’ll just get it online or something and wait for it while I track down props, at least it’s easier that way.

Oh well, wish me luck on this. It’s a new challenge of cosplay project to actually look pretty instead of mysterious or tough this time.

The Last

Standard Chartered Marathon Singaore

Sunday was my last run of the year. I took the 10 km Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore route. It was interesting and I passed by R2D2, C3P0 and some Star Wars characters running/walking for charity??

Anyway, I had to run fast because I had to go home by 10am.

Batgirl!

Just so I could join the Gotham cosplay competition at Takashimaya when the registration started at around 12pm.

Yes. I ran in the morning, rushed home and went to my last cosplay competition of the year.

That was ridiculous BUT YEAHHH I DID IT.

And that’s why this post is short because, I freaking ran 10 km and then went to a cosplay competition.

Longer posts for next episode indeed!
