So you guys reading this still have time to visit it this coming weekend!
The plot of this is:
A freak solar flare on a magnitude nobody has experienced before has wrecked the Earth’s natural environment, causing volcanic eruptions and devastating oceanic activity. Infrastructure all around the world collapsed as a result and many lost their lives to the freak disaster. The world’s population was somehow reduced to its bare minimum following the end of the devastation. Only 4,169 people remain around the globe, just enough to repopulate Earth.
Following the disaster, only one woman remains in Singapore. With the 20 books she has scavenged, she has decided to set up what probably is the last remaining bookstore on earth. The rest of the bookstore is outfitted with other scavenged bits: a few paintings, an old television, a spare radio that is constantly trying to reach somebody else out there, and other bits and bobs. Everyday she waits for someone, anyone, to reach her bookstore while she finds solace in what she has. Thus begins The World’s Loneliest Bookstore.
So head on to block 7 of Gillman Barracks, 7 Lock Road, Singapore 108935. It opens from 11am to 7pm daily until the 19th of August.
I went there on national day because that was finally an open day for me to check it out.
The most “Huh, I didn’t think that would happen but I guess it’s likely” is a karaoke booth. I don’t know if it is meant to be there but it should be? But it really gives that whole if it’s a post apocalyptic world, I guess a karaoke booth would be entertainment to just sing in.
You can look around an experience yourself and even take a key from a tray.
So far that I know this is a real block and it faces towards east coast beach. If at the end of the world and you could choose pretty much any house in Singapore since there’s no one else, I would try to choose this one.
There are other addresses which are technically near my current home too.
And cats.
There’s so many cats around.
Which makes sense since we have so many community cats about.
Come sit with them.
Also did I buy anything from the world’s loneliest bookstore?
I got Rachel Heng’s Suicide Club.
Head on to Gillman Barracks before it all ends for this pretty surreal and chill experience. Also since you’re there, you probably can take influenza styled photos at the pink pineapple nearby.
Pps. I went to BooksActually at Tiong Bahru to get that brick since it was an open day for me so I explored. This is part of their shophouse fund. You can get one too.
The Journaling Festival by Cityluxe at Millenia Walk ends on 5 August. You can check out the various activities like MT Tape aka washi tape badge making, rubber stamp “trading” and workshops on bullet journaling at their programme on their website.
It’s a “small” festival but packed with very evil items to those who like writing, journaling, sketchbooking etc because OH MY GOODNESS.
The stationery and the tapes and ink and whatnot.
The table at the bottom right is where the presentation or trading of rubber stamping and other workshops are happening there’s also some MT Tape stuff happening on the top left corner too.
The day I went had ridiculous weather, sunny and then rain and back to sun again. Anyway theDBS Marina Regatta is back! And it’s held at the Promontory from around 8am to 11pm, since you’re reading this the last weekend to catch it is this 2 and 3 June!
Don’t carry too many things because there is a bag check at the entrance for the safety of all. After that, you’re through!
It starts really early because you can join the workouts by the bay in the Play Dome, it’s near the left side of the stage if you are facing it.
BUT YEAH FREE WORKOUTS!
All you have to do is bring your own mat and wear your exercise stuff, more info on the various workout schedules is on the DBS Marina Regatta website.
Meanwhile, do pick up the bay passport when you’re there.
You have to complete various actions around the area and you might win a Porsche Design HUAWEI Mate 10, Scoot flight tickets to Berlin, Maldive and Kuching or any other prizes!
Their birthday festival sale starts on 24 April until 26 April 2018.
Ok, what’s the details? Since it’s their birthday, there’s going to be discounts of up to 90% off, more than 600 flash deals and… up to $120 vouchers?!
In the previous birthday deals, I can’t remember they had that!
OOOH AND there’s SURPRISE BOXES again! It’ll cost $29 but it’s worth around $100.
And ok, this is the year of huat aka 2018 so we might want to look nicer so there’s only 4 exclusive premium beauty boxes worth $100 but going at $50.
It’s probably some atas brand and all.
I don’t know but what I can tell you is their gaming section surprise box!!
Here’s what I got as a preview for the celebration, the Leapfrog Surprise Box!
On an early Saturday morning I ventured all the way to 60 Jalan Penjara to visit the Citizen Farm. (Facebook is at Citizen Farm in case you want updates from them!)
There’s no penjara (jail) that I know of, just a nice edible garden farm of sorts.
My main reason was to attend the cheese making workshop by Annisa of Milky Whey Cheese who came all the way from Kuala Lumpur! (You can check out her instagram too at @milkywheycheese.)
Also that’s a chicken who was eating the mint on the other side before one of the Citizen Farm people shooed it away since his food was already in a tray.
Ohhhh my goodness. I learned how to make mozzarella cheese. The “instant” kind (aka took at least an hour) while Annisa brought some curds she had made in KL where it would take maybe 6-12 hours I think?? Anyway, since we only had 3 hours of the workshop, ours was a ‘fast mozzarella’ type.
Scape lets us rent the place for half a day a minimum and we are holding some other event in the evening leaving the afternoon unused.
So instead why not teach people who might be interested to know how to vlog at home or at events they’re at? That’s why you’re getting a free vlogging workshop!
Yeah, I’ll be there too so yeah, if you’re interested just sign up.
If you don’t have a camera, a phone works too. Basically I will teach what’s the cheapest way to do things and scale up if you’re interested to make things even more wow.
You can donate in cash to them through money transfer, their bank account name is Love Kuching Project, the bank is DBS Bank, account number DBS Current 027-907655-0.
With that, this VALENTINE’S DAY, I am doing a special. Because I’m making chocolates* for self, I might as well use up all the ingredients and proper box for you**.
SO THIS IS GOING TO BE THE ANIME/MANGA CHOCOLATE EXPERIENCE.
For at least $150 (donation to Love Kuching Project), I will make small box of chocolates, go up to your address*** on V-day evening (14 Feb) or you let me know your timing for Wednesday, I could even try make it on lunch/afternoon depending on my schedule and hand it to you and run away. (Tier 1)
$250, I will do the same but slam the chocs against you for those who like tsunderes and say “I did it for the cats, not you ok! Bakaaa!” and then run away. (Tier 2)
For at least $500. All of the above but I demand you eat the chocolate on the spot and ask “So… so how is it? They are my rejected ones so don’t expect anything great!!!” But in reality they are the best pieces I’d make for the batch. And then run away. (Tier 3)
For $1000, all of the above and a secret “confession” letter hidden in box with a picture of one of the LKP cats or choice of Dawn the cat pushing my face away pic as a thank you note keepsake. And then run away. (Tier 4)
BONUS: I might call you senpai
DOUBLE BONUS: It might involve a ridiculous costume so don’t expect anything romantic.
Notes: YOU CAN SABOH YOUR FRIENDS OK. All in the name of CATS. You don’t like humans, nevermind but you like cats can help them like this.
Don’t have enough as an individual? Pile up that money with friends to get at least the first tier.
ALTERNATE ROUTE
If you buy kitty litter or food that didn’t hit the $150 range, you won’t get chocolates but just a digital picture of me saying thank you with Dawn the cat.
The deadline for this ‘preorder’ is 12 Februaryso I can prepare the ingredients and box ok?
HOW to get this?
Go donate to LKP and email me a picture of your donation transaction. Either it is the cash tiers or the food route, you need to have proof you did it. My email is sarah(at)seriouslysarah.com
Duh, when you’re emailing the transaction, you better be fast when I reply to you because I’ll ask where/when and arrange when on 14 Feb to do so.
Get ready to receive chocolates or get scolded in a tsundere way
*Chocolates = I’m not a chef so it may/may not taste awesome
**You = whoever is reading this and hopefully is in Singapore unless you wanna send me a plane ticket?
*** Location better be east or central because I’m not travelling all the way to the west.

Hi, the group went to Comic Fiesta at KLCC in 2017! It’s been a while since CF was back to KLCC so we were excited to go since it’s so easy to get there from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur by bus and stay at Trader’s hotel which is above the convention centre.
And also because I could eat Halal food like Din’s since that’s not available in Singapore.
If you wanted a tl;dr version of Comic Fiesta 2017, you can watch the video above! It was an exciting weekend that I had to split it into three posts. This one is going to be a combined 2 days of CF post.
On 26 November 2017, Apple at Orchard Road (Apple Orchard, really…) hosted a special event called Perspectives with Kelly Marie Tran & Norman Tan!
As readers of my blog would possibly know who Kelly is since a bunch of you guys are nerds like me, you would know her as Rose Tico from Star Wars in the upcoming The Last Jedi. Norman Tan is the moderator and he’s the Editor-in-Chief of Buro 24/7. He’s a really good moderator and the whole event was pretty smooth.
It started a with a screening of the trailer (some people screamed No if you listened properly because I know they were trying to avoid seeing anything until the movie appeared) and a secret behind the scenes segment starring Kelly Marie Tran. Maybe it’ll be put in the main BTS of The Last Jedi but from what we saw, it was kind of touching also? To at least know how she ended up in the role.
Trailer over, some of Singapore’s 501st marched in to stand to the side to welcome her.
